CAUDIT Managers Program off to a strong start in 2025

A diverse cohort of 72 professionals from across the Australasian higher education and research sector has officially launched their journey in the 2025 CAUDIT Managers Program. Representing 36 organisations, participants have embarked on the first of many steps in this seven-month professional development experience, designed to strengthen leadership capability across the sector.

The program commenced with two foundational technical sessions focused on Identifying Effective Leadership and gaining personal insights through the Life Styles Inventory (LSI) profiling tool. These early modules set the tone for what promises to be a transformative experience grounded in both theory and practice.

Nurturing self-aware leaders

At the heart of the opening sessions was a focus on self-awareness as the cornerstone of effective leadership. Participants explored how their motivations, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours shape the way they lead. The Foundations of Management and Leadership module encouraged reflection and action by examining different leadership and management styles and aligning these insights with personal Life Styles Inventory (LSI) profiles.

Unlocking insights with the LSI tool

An integral part of the program, the LSI profiles, offers participants a 360-degree view of their thinking and behavioural styles. Combining self-assessment with feedback from colleagues, the LSI provides valuable data to help participants identify areas of strength and opportunities for development.

The cohort heard from Pascal Tampubolon, Head of IT – Research at UTS and Co-chair of the CAUDIT Research Support Community of Practice. A 2019 CAUDIT Managers Program alumnus and 2022 CAUDIT Leadership Institute graduate, Pascal shared thoughtful and practical advice on making the most of the program. His reflections on expectation-setting, time management, and goal alignment provided participants with valuable guidance to maximise their learning and development throughout the program.

As the 2025 CAUDIT Managers Program progresses, participants are poised to explore a rich blend of leadership theory, sector insights, and self-reflection, laying the groundwork for impactful leadership in their roles.
