Prosecution Project

Initiative Overview

Working with researchers on a ARC Laureate Fellowship project Griffith University eResearch staff, designed a website that is used by researchers and crowd volunteers to transcribe manual records into a database that will be an enduring record of the history of policing and prosecution of criminal offences in Australia since as early as 1830.

The Prosecution Project is digitising Australia’s criminal justice records – to help researchers as well as family and community historians better access the past.

The solution developed and approach used to collaborate, design and develop the Prosecution project is now being adopted by institutions across the world.
