CAUDIT Procurement webinar
Misinformation vs Disinformation
Presented by Phriendly Phishing
Misinformation refers to false or misleading information shared without malicious intent, whereas Disinformation is deliberately deceptive content spread to mislead.
Phriendly Phishing will unpack how both phenomena erode public trust and academic integrity, polarise communities, and influence democratic processes. The role of social media in amplifying these issues through algorithms that favour engaging content will be examined. The webinar will highlight the importance of fact-checking organisations (including universities), media literacy education, and regulatory measures in combating misinformation and disinformation.
