AusCERT ISAC Proposal update, CAUDIT Top Ten Report, Paper for the Australian Institute of Corporate Directors (AICD) and more...

AusCERT ISAC proposal - an informal working party has been formed via the CoP and continues to meet regularly with AusCERT via Zoom to input and monitor progress on the AusCERT ISAC proposal.  A key milestone date is for the CAUDIT Executive Committee to consider the ISAC service proposal and advise whether there is a minimum of 25 institutions that wish to use the service (and if yes to identify the institutions).

CAUDIT Top Ten Report – work continues on the report with the first draft expected during the first week of November, and to be finalised mid-November in time for release at the 2 December CAUDIT meeting.

USA Based Study Tour – a report is in development and is expected to be finalised late November.  Several briefings have already been provided to interested parties such as CoP ISAC working party, AARNet, QUDIT and VDIT Cybersecurity groups, and an updated is scheduled for the QUDIT Board (24th November).

Paper for the Business/Higher Education Round Table (B/HERT) – CAUDIT CIO Anne Kealley and CAUDIT Cybersecurity Chair Tim Lane have collaborated to respond to an invitation by B/HERT to submit a 1500 word paper titled ‘Cybersecurity – A World without Borders.  Cybersecurity threats and responses in the Australian Higher Education Sector’.  The paper will be available online mid November and is an excellent opportunity to action advice contained in the Australian Governments ‘Australian Cyber Security Strategy’ by collaborating and partnering with industry across Australia.

Stay Smart Online Initiative – Tim Lane from Southern Cross University (in role of Chair of the Cybersecurity CoP) has obtained approval for SCU to join the Government’s Stay Smart Online initiative and be listed as a partner on their web page https://www.staysmartonline.gov.au/partners/stay-smart-online-partners  Participation in the initiative includes an commitment to help spread awareness about cyber security, threats and responses.
