Letter from the Director
Dear Colleagues:
Universities are a critical component of the shift to a knowledge-based
economy. Staff working in information technology and information
services in universities have a special obligation to maintain
their skills at the highest levels. Increasingly, these staff require
an understanding of management issues and need to acquire new techniques
to deal with challenges outside their area of technical expertise.
CAUDIT (the Council of Australian University Directors of Information
Technology) has joined with EDUCAUSE (the peak USA organisation
associated with IT and higher education) to develop and present
a staff development program.
The CAUDIT-EDUCAUSE Institute endeavours to develop present and
future leadership in information technology and information services
in higher education through a curriculum that focuses on a balance
between technical, managerial and leadership concepts and skills
and enhances participants' knowledge of trends in higher education.
The Institute program is designed for high quality and intensive
interactions among attendees and between attendees and faculty
(the Institute's name for the facilitators) chosen for their knowledge,
experience and enthusiasm for their profession. The number of attendees
is limited to 40. Time for reflection and renewal is an integral
element of the Institute program.
If you are interested in your professional development, in your
career, in becoming a more valuable contributor to your institution,
in remaining current in key areas of management theory and technique
specifically focused on higher education, please join us at the 2006 CAUDIT-EDUCAUSE Institute at the Calypso Plaza, Coolangatta, Queensland from Sunday 27 to Thursday 31 August 2006.
Gerrit Bahlman, Director, CAUDIT-EDUCAUSE Institute
