Final Submission of Papers and Speaker Expectations
All presenters are encouraged to document their presentation by contributing a paper or other presentation format such as PowerPoint slides. All presentations will be posted on the conference website at the conclusion of the conference. Where a presentation involves multiple speakers, all viewpoints should be documented.
All materials will be expected to be submitted in electronic format (Microsoft Word, rich text format (rtf), 12 point font or PowerPoint format) to Waldron Smith Management by 29 January 2007. Please email documents to educauseAust-07@unimelb.edu.au.
Complete instructions will be available at a later date for preparation of:
- Papers
- PowerPoint presentations
- Panel discussions
- Campus perspective presentations
- Symposia or poster sessions (for the presentation or discussion of “hot topics”)
It is intended that session materials included on the EDUCAUSE Australasia 2007 web site will become the conference proceedings.
Presentation Guidelines
Presentations may take one of the following forms, or you may suggest an alternative format:
- Lecture-style presentations in which a paper is presented with limited audience interaction, although time for questions and answers is encouraged.
- Panel discussions consisting of a panel of multiple speakers, each offering a perspective on an issue or set of issues, with time for questions and answers.
- Campus perspectives presentations which share the experiences of several (two to four) institutions dealing with the same challenge on their respective campuses, with time for questions and answers.
- Poster presentations offering the opportunity for you to share your campus experience through informal, interactive, brief presentations. This format, with multiple sessions in the same room, gives attendees and presenters the opportunity to share and examine problems, issues, and solutions in a more casual, direct, one-on-one environment. In the past, presenters have found that these sessions are a great way for them to learn from the interaction they have with those who stop by.
- Symposia provide an opportunity for colleagues to gather to discuss/debate an issue which is topical – in other words, a “hot topic”. All that is required is for 2 or 3 delegates to propose a current issue of interest to the higher education sector and be prepared to give a 5 minute introduction and/or conversation starter. This is an ideal opportunity to ascertain how other institutions are dealing with the issue and to make useful contacts. One of the topic presenters is required to facilitate the discussion and arrange for the main ideas to be recorded for submission to the website.
Workshop Presentations
Presentations are designed to be interactive but are not limited to this format.
The seminar sessions are expected to be up to 180 minutes long, including a 20 minute refreshment break.
Concurrent Presentations
Presentations are expected to be 25 minutes in length, consisting of a presentation of 20 minutes, questions and answers time of 5 minutes.
All electronic presentations e.g. PowerPoint presentations, must be submitted by 29 January 2007.
Conference Fees, Travel, and Lodging: Presenters are responsible for registering in advance for the conference, paying the full conference registration fee, and securing and paying for travel and accommodation.
